1968 Heuer Autavia Chronograph Ref 2446C

Beautiful Heuer Autavia Chronograph from 1968 with big subdials in original gently worn original condition. Legandary Valjoux 72 caliber in perfect condition. With original beads of rice Gay Frères bracelet.

The Autavias were introduced in the early 1960s and were fitted with a screw-back case.
This Autavia 2446C here is the Mark I version. The „C“ stands for compressor, as in compressor case.

Rather than a screw-down caseback, these second-generation Autavias featured a nifty design in which the caseback was actually controlled by the surrounding water pressure; the gaskets tighten accordingly to ensure water resistance up to 100 meters (330 feet).

Heuer offered these Chronographs with a few different bezel variations, this one has a 12 hours scale on it.
